About Trainer Tom

In my experience people train for a variety of reasons- they want more energy, to lose weight, to feel strong again. Those goals are important, but also figuring out what works for your body and personality so that you reach them. That’s were I can really help. I have clients that love the intensity of boxing, but also respond to yoga and pilates. So there workouts balance those two styles of training. For others, it’s a combination of running and resistance that really works. During our sessions you’ll be challenged and pushed, but still leave feeling energised. We’ll chat about you diet too, because the work you do with me only starts to pay-off when you follow through at home. Along the way I promise you’ll enjoy yourself. My one piece of advice: Don’t wait until your fit enough to book a session, I’ll start at a level that suits you now, then advance the training as your fitness improves. You’ll reach your goals faster and be setting new one’s before you know it.

I work with mothers wanting to lose that baby weight and rehabilitate their bodies, office workers who need to maintain their stamina and fitness, people training for marathons, and everyone in between. We can train wherever works for you. For one client, that’s in their garden with her two year old daughter running about, for another it’s in a nearby park ( and when it rains, his/her living room or hallway ). Where there’s a will, there’s always a way. Call me for a FREE consultation.

I would highly recommend Tom. I have employed him for a number of years, having met him whilst a member at David Lloyd. He has helped me achieve my twin goals of increased cardiovascular fitness and considerable weight loss (3 stone).
He has done this by keeping me motivated and amused and not charging too much!
During this process he has become a good friend but he still manages to keep our sessions fresh and creative and continues to review targets and give sensible dietary advice. If your like me and require some friendly motivation then give Tom a call.

Tom has just the correct balance of being able to ignore the moaning of his trainees and still keep them willing to please him to do better & faster & stronger 🙂 Just as what you expect from a good inspirational trainer. Thanks Tom for putting our bodies with joy through this ” torture” and thanks for toning me so well for my wedding 🙂

Just another thought on Tom – you won’t meet a better personal trainer. He mixes up the sessions really well. Looking forward to continuing the personal boxing training with Tom also.

Worked with a number of PTs in the past but Tom really knows his stuff and makes the work relevant and variable. He listened to the reasons I wanted to start regular training, understood that more than 10 reps of anything and I am lost to the process! and has continued to keep me engaged and seeing that this work is an on- going and life long journey! He has supported me through minor injuries, I have lost weight ( not deliberately) but through understanding the importance of the triad of strength, flexibility and cardiovascular training as age increases. If you have Tom as a trainer you are fortunate!

I have worked with Tom for a number of years and it’s always impressive how he keeps our training sessions fresh even after all this time. Tom also brings a holistic approach to fitness and has been massively helpful in sorting out my niggles with a weak back and sore feet. And the food/diet tips are always helpful in re-anchoring myself to eating healthily.

Tom joined the Harrow School gym as an instructor in January 2015. Coinciding with the start of our own regular attendance.

My age then was 84. The gym is on the 2nd floor up 52 steps. The fact that I can happily climb and descend them 3 times a week at the start and finish of a healthy session 9 years on is entirely thanks to Tom’s wise, friendly, ingenious and deeply interested instruction.  Learning all the while or training himself when he’s not working with a client, he knows exactly what he’s about.

Trying to reach the targets he sets is a real pleasure.

Tom expertise and knowledge of the subject matter has been invaluable in helping me to achieve a good fitness level. His workouts were tailored to correct/ compensate multiple injuries I had and his enthusiasm and positive attitude have also made the experience enjoyable and engaging. Thanks to him I was in my best shape when I got pregnant with my twins and managed to have an easy pregnancy and a speedy recovery

Tom is a fantastic coach who helps me regain confidence in my body after having stopped sports for 2 years & put on “aging “ weight… thanks to Tom, I am learning to tone & strengthen my muscles, he helps me get rid of old age pains and build up energy again; “no pain no gain but so true”! Next step: losing weight in the process!! Mission always possible with Mister T!!
What makes Tom a unique coach is not only his expertise in making us fit again and body pain free but also his understanding and patience that come along when dealing with reluctantly aging clients like me!
Thank you so much for being on my path Tom!

I asked Tom to help me with rehab after I had fractured my scapula. Although Tom is not a physiotherapist, his knowledge and experience meant that he understood what was needed to strengthen the soft tissues around the fracture and therefore speed up the healing process. The sessions and exercise program that Tom gave me helped a great deal.

Signed up with Tom a year ago after surgery on my ankle. Having had ‘physio’ through the hospital, 6 session 8 weeks with little to improvement I went to Tom who built a bespoke training programme over 3 sessions and within 6 weeks I had 90% of the ankles range – pre opp 30% physio got me to 50%.

Tom is scientific in his approach and you feel fully engaged and understand what he is looking to give you in each exercise being set.

    It’s really easy after that
    Thanks Tom

I have worked with Tom now for around 8 months and have found his approach to be very different from many other gym instructors. Tom takes a holistic approach to overall fitness and nutrition. He takes the time to understand your objectives, physically assess you and then work with you with very specific exercises. Every session is different!

Would highly recommend Tom, regardless of your fitness levels.

As a regular gym and swimming pool user over the last 30 years, with increasing age I began to notice that my balance wasn’t as sharp as it used to be, so I booked in for a session with Tom. Other than introductory sessions this was my first experience with a personal trainer. Tom took me through a number of detailed tests and concluded my hip alignment was out. The corrective exercises are a series of highly focused stretches and pummels, all of them new to me.
The result was immediate. I noticed that my confidence returned knowing that I have regained authority over my physical fitness. To maintain fitness in advancing years is one of my primary objectives.

Much more difficult has been getting into a regular routine with a set of new exercises. At first thinking I would do these at home, I soon realised they are to be treated in the same way as recreational swimming and gym workouts: by booking out gym time. Tom’s firm encouragement confirmed this. The added advantage is that Tom keeps a watchful eye over what I do.

I’ve also picked up that Tom is very focused on diet as part of an overall approach to fitness… something to explore as I move up a gear on my new fitness adventure guided by the expertise and experience of Tom.

Tom has trained me for years. Tom makes all the difference, he motivates, listens to what you want to achieve and drives you to go further than you think possible.
When I first started training I wasn’t that person that enjoyed the gym or keeping fit, I couldn’t hold a plank and I hated running. Tom has taught me that it can be fun and that if you listen to what he is saying you will achieve your goals.

I am 55 now and because of training with Tom I feel fitter, stronger and more toned than I did in my 30’s.

  14. Will Ellis's avatar Will Ellis says:

Over a few years I have had occasional training sessions with Tom and he has always been excellent. He can tell what particular excercises are needed to strengthen those muscles which need strengthening. I am not a spring chicken, but 20 years ago I was threatened with surgery to have a knee replacement. I would say largely thanks to Tom, this was avoided. I continue to ski, and do serious cycling and walking..

  15. David's avatar David says:

Simply put…amazing Tom. Tom managed to do in less than two months, what medical professionals jointly could not acheive in three years. That being complete pain management on my lower back, right hip, nerve system, and enabling complete rotation in the lower part of my back, while increasing cardio fitness, something that had not happened for three years prior.

Tom’s ability to listen, and truly formalate a bespoke pain management, and training plan is second to none. Tom worked with my extensive back complications, multiple surgeries, and limited movement to deliver results that I’d never seen before.

Tom truly cares about his clients, is a professional of the highest order, and if you are considering appointing a professional trainer for fitness, pain management, or strength conditioning, then look no further…no matter what your age or condition. Tom thank you.

  16. James F's avatar James F says:

Tom has been an excellent PT. I’ve been dealing with issues like lower back pain and nerve problems. The exercises he prescribed have been incredibly helpful. Since I’m keen on injury prevention to keep playing sports, Tom’s expertise in human anatomy has been invaluable. He accurately diagnosed my issues and provided clear guidance on what’s beneficial and what’s not. I’m truly grateful to have found Tom, especially since searching online for exercises wasn’t very helpful.
